Our Specialties
Artistic cold-formed decorative glass as we do it can take many forms. Etched or engraved, carved or sculpted variations with color when necessary, as well as the more classic styles of traditional stained, leaded and beveled glass. Each form has a different and unique tradition to the craft in making it and each requires a specialized set of skills. We are well versed with the many skills of each technique and we respect these traditions and the long history that glass has played in architectural design. We strive to maintain the integrity of its reputation and styles in all our work. We will also continue to raise the bar in our industry. We will constantly push the limits of glass to the extreme and always strive to deliver something new. We hold tight to the highest standards of professionalism in every aspect of our business, and maintain ourselves as a reliable source vendor for the interior and architectural design trades. Each of the techniques explained below have a purpose or place for use, these purposes or how they are used are following their description.
Etched and Carved Glass
The Etching and Carving of glass is a versatile technique by which designs and imagery are applied to the surface of a variety of types or thicknesses of glass. The tools and equipment used in these processes vary based on the desired result. There are very few limitations to this medium’s design possibilities, and the outcome is usually quite dramatic. At Reflective Collections, we produce all etched and carved glass by hand and by means of sandblasting. The art or imagery is created and refined, applied to the glass surface using a variety of stenciling materials, and then the design is all hand-cut, etched and carved to perfection. From simple graphics and logos, to the most elaborate works of dimensional and super-carved glass art, each piece is created with the same level of care and appreciation. We push the limits of this medium every day to achieve outstanding results for our clientele. Etched and carved glass are our most versatile style of art. Virtually any glass item or structure can be embellished with design, art or details. Common are tables, showers, doors, windows, dividing walls and more.
Stained and Leaded Glass
Our process for the most part is the true craft of traditional Old-World Style window building, including the use of mostly real lead came. Copper-foils, putties, patinas, plating, and traditional glass painting will all be a part when necessary. In modeling the traditional form, we push the limits with today’s advancements in craft and technology, creating what should become the New-World result of Traditional Stained, Leaded and Beveled Glass Art. We have the skills and knowledge to specialize in Heraldry, antiquing and unique stained glass ceilings and structures. The creation of a work of art in stained, leaded or beveled glass is an exciting process with many steps to its production. Once the design is chosen and finalized, the glass color palette and metals to join them are selected, and then our expert craftspeople apply their skills and transform the design into a breathtaking work of art. Chris and his team have also created and developed a variety of new and exciting techniques that bring this traditional art form to new levels of achievement. These new design techniques will be evident in most of our future finished work. Stained and leaded glass are staples for door and window design. Color and texture of the glass is most often the desired result. Stained glass is traditionally attributed to lighting as well (Tiffany Lamps) this is where it applies to our more custom projects of glass ceiling domes and structures.
Dimensional and Sculptural Glass
Sculpture, one of the more challenging forms of artistic expression becomes even more alive when made of glass. Glass, when used as a dimensional and sculptural element is unique to its own unlike anything else. Glass (Silica - primary component) is a mineral refined from the earth, is a perfect medium for creating sculpture. It is optically profound in every sense of the word especially with the presence of light. The way that light and atmosphere work together to bring this form of art or sculpture to life is extraordinary, and the styles and possibilities are endless. The look created by this medium is like nothing else in the world. Creating sculpture with glass is an intriguing, challenging and delicate process with very little room for error. Great Skill is the key element, imagination is the fuel, and ones’ hands are the machine. Finished successful works of glass sculpture are collectible works of art that will grow in value. Using glass as dimensional art or sculpture has absolutely no boundaries. There are no classification guidelines to where or when to use it. The only guideline is safe engineering. This is left to experts, experts in engineering and experts in glass art. Each project will be addressed accordingly and anything is possible.

Creative Glass Edge work
Edge Work: The unlimited result of tested expertise. The varieties of techniques in this category that are achievable in glass are beyond vast and endless. Each week something new will be recognized. In this category our focus is edge work, treatments of glass we usually use on the edge of table tops. This specialty category is extremely custom in nature and many techniques are difficult to master. Most are achieved by the controlled breaking of the glass edge in a powerful and very particular way, so as to get the glass edge to break without a break entering the table itself. It is a high-risk series of techniques that can be done on any thickness or style of glass, the thinner the glass, the greater the risk. This creative successful edge work is gorgeous all its own, but it is also used quite often in most of our sculptural glass projects. Table top designs are a common product for edge work.
